    • Been with Bluehost for a couple of years - best deal out there imo.. ALWAYS up to date with features and so on..
The CEO got a nice blog that seems honest and shows the future of Bluehost, unlimited domains etc.. great deal!

    • I'm with Matthew!

      Rochen is the best!
I have a few accounts with goDaddy, but they're three times slower then with Rochen. And since I switched to Rochen from Midphase (where my site was always down) I had not even a second of out of service!

    • My best success has been with Site5. The servers have been very stable and quick. I have about 20 - 30 sites with them on about 5 different servers. Some severs do better than others, I think in depends who the other users on that server are. I have been on some bad servers and worked with the support staff to get moved to a better one. Site5 has the best set up for managing multiple accounts, they allow you to combine them all into one master username while still maintaining separate accounts.

I just recently have tried out Host Rocket on a recommendation. They also use Cpanel which is my favorite hosting control panel. I am not sure if it is the server that I am on or just there service but my site www.framereviews.com has been bouncing up and down for the past week or so. Not good in my opinion You can see for the month of september it has been miserable.

DreamHost I have used these guys for a while. I have been setting up http://www.joomlahostingreviews.com  a site dedicated to this exact topic. It would be great if you could stop by and help out Joomla Hosting Reviews with some reviews and input. :) The site is always being updated and I use jReviews for the review component. Dream host does okay. Periodically this service will be slow and does go down for an hour or so a couple times a month. It is my intention to move this site to another host but I have not yet.

Uptime Monitors. One of the best things that I have done is add my different sites to website monitoring service. I have even started a uptime monitoring review section. The best uptime monitoring service I have found is Pingdom they have the most reliable service and monitoring points from all around the globe. In my opinion they have the best interface and reporting tools. I am in the process of adding these reports to http://www.joomlahostingreviews.com  This way everyone can see the real uptime stats for different hosting companies.
      Site5 Uptime Report
      Dream Host Uptime Report
Frame Reviews Uptime with Host Rocket

Monitoring uptime on client websites is a great service to. The clients know that I am not responsible for the server uptime but I do work with them to help keep their hosting company honest. Have other people used different monitoring services?

Hope this helps and thanks for the information about the other joomla! web hosts. I will add them to www.joomlahostingreviews.com

    • thanks to all your recommendations...I have shortlisted bluehost and hostmonster according to some recommendations and apparently they are sisters companies so I guess I would take up hostmonster since it has a promo price now. There are some people out there that offers rebates ( by sharing their referral commission ), anyone tried any of it...? reliable? haha...perhaps no harm to try :P

I tried hostrocket too...the features and price is great...but I faced quite a few times of security issues...but not too sure if its their fault or my php scripts issues...so this time I want to try a new host!

I use Godaddy, Hostmonster, and Hostnine. The best plan for the money is Hostmonster, but if you want a reseller account I like Hostnine; other than a small chmod issue they have been great.

      Joe,

Can you please elaborate on what CHMOD problem you had with hostnine as i`m getting ready to open up my site with them..

      Thanks.

    • My experience may very well be unique, but I had a miserable time with Siteground. I moved my site off their system after 4 months of a 2-yr program, and just use it now for testing and playing. In those 4 months, the server made it through no more than 4 days without going down at least once, and usually several time. The site was ridiculously slow, and customer service was a royal pain to get a hold of. They had no live interaction, no email, no phone - just their online form which was perhaps the most obnoxious and backwards setup for getting service... ever. If your site was actually down, you could report it and they would respond relatively quickly - but it was a pain and anything other than site down reports were made intentionally difficult to report, and would be almost impossible to get a timely answer.

The price is right with Siteground, but in my experience - I got less than I paid for. I could tell more specific stories about their customer "service," but I'll refrain from posting a veritable trilogy of novels.

      Much happier with HostGator.

    • After all the nightmares from other hosting - I tried out

http://www.rochenhost.com/ - it is like they were built for using Joomla.

No package, no matter how great it sounds - High Bandwidth, Mega Disk Space is worth 2cents if it does not work or your always hacking with it to get Joomla to work.

I don't have time to make joomla work with the hosting, which is what I was doing in the past, so my bet is on www.rochenhost.com/ if you want to work with peace of mind.

    • Hey Bengalf,

Like most hosts I have ever dealt with when you upload files using the Joomla installer the files become orphans and don't have an owner. Which basically means you can't change the CHMOD of the files. I have since worked around it in a number of ways:

      1. Hostnine runs a cron job every half hour which turns the orphans back into files you can control.

      2. I installed: extensions.joomla.org/component/option,c...k_id,2630/Itemid,35/ which usually allows me to change the files right away.

      3. Joomla 1.5 soon enough will make this a non-issue.

If you are going to order a reseller plan from Hostnine make sure of two things: 1. You have the coupon for the half off deal they have and most important #2 Make sure you are part of reseller central. Reseller central allows you to add and move indvidual hosting accounts to any one of I think 8 locations they have. Example: say you create 8 individual hosting accounts; one can be in Iowa, the other Illimois, and then another in NY. (Pretty cool feature)

Any questions or if you want to try it give me a yell on MSN.

    • I've used 1and1.com, Bluehost and Rochen and would recommend both Bluehost and Rochen (although until they changed their system recently the issue with file ownership described above was a dreadful hassle at Rochen... thank goodness they've found a way around it!). Bluehost is great if you want to host a lot of domains cheaply, but you can't park spare domain names on specific accounts. Rochen customer support is astonishingly fast and unequalled in helpfulness.

Has anyone any experience of www.daily.co.uk ? I've just transferred most of my domains to them and wonder what the hosting is like... Saw them recommended as a registrar on another forum. They seem to be fairly new.
