SOLVED Gantry don't save my changes in mainbody layout

  • SOLVED Gantry don't save my changes in mainbody layout

    • I have a problem saving changes in the mainbody layout with Gantry. I have a module published in the sidebar A and another assigned to Sidebar B. I go to the administration Gantry template-layouts, I modify the parameters to be Sidebar A-mainbody-Sidebar B (see screenshot 1), I save it the changes, I get the message that de changes are correctly saved, but really no data is saved. When I return into Gantry layouts to see the changes, the slider is left again in only one position (mainbody). (View screenshot 2). Why changes are not saved if properly assigned and published and actives the modules in sidebar A and Sidebar B?

    • Hi there,

When you open the positions it display what is published to the home page. Unless you have all three items set to appear on the Home page then it will not show that setting.

Have you gone to the page, where the items are published, in the front end to see if the display is correct?

    • I am having the same problem. Sorry David, I couldn't follow what you are trying to say. I am trying this template on my local machine so I don't have a URL for you to take a look at.

But overall ...whatever changes I make to the mainbody slider ...they don't stick. I am making changes to the Master template which is set to default.

I have not had this problem with other templates ...is there something peculiar about this one.

      Thanks,

    • Hi there,

Have you actually navigated to a page where there are sufficient modules published to see your chosen layout?

Just think of the numbers above the slider as chapters in a book. When you click on a number and adjust the slider and then click apply it is saving that setting in the database. Next time you open the admin layout you will see the equivalent settings for the home page, which may or may not have the selected number of positions published.

What you seem to be saying is a bit like opening a book at the start and then saying that chapter 2 is missing before you have even turned the pages.

If you go to admin and click on the same number above the slider that you previously saved does it show that saved layout? If it does then it has saved correctly. If it doesn't then please feel free to PM me with super admin access.

      Hope this helps 8)

    • Thanks David. I tried assigning modules go fill up for the additional position and it retained the new settings. I did't know that the backend was driven based on front end ..I was thinking the opposite...i.e. even if we don't have any thing assigned to a certain position the backend setting will stick as configured.

      Thanks again!

    • I'm also having this problem (Gantry not saving layout settings). I've tested this with the background photos mostly. It worked then seemed to stop working.

      Any suggestions?

I've cleared the cache, all files are writeable, and running the newest version of PHP.

    • I have been a Rocket Theme member for some time and I have been coping with this issue, trusting that the frontend will acknowledge my Gantry layout settings. It hasn't failed me so far. The frontend displays the layout settings I implement on the override settings page.

Yet. RT developers need to look into why the Gantry settings fail to display the override layout settings when returning to the override settings page. Jakub acknowledged my issue with an earlier version of Gantry and sent me a fix two years ago. I cannot locate the fix.

However, the problem still exists for any Rocket theme I install. Any chance that we can get the developers to have a look? I would be willing to PM login prompts to any of my projects.

Can you PM me with a temporary Super Admin access please along with what overrides are being ignored and I will take a look to see what the cause may be. Please include the link to this post for ease of reference.

      Thanks :)

    • Hi Eric,

What I ended up doing was manually creating the .ini files that go into /rt_momentum/custom/menuitemsparams/ the changes still aren't displayed in the control panel but at least I can control things like the background photos for each page.

    • Hi all,

I have got a similar problem.
I use the mainbody with only one sidebar (mb - sa).
It used to be 8|4 but since the update of the latest Gantry version it "jumped" back to 9|3.
When changing it to 8|4 and hitting "save", Gantry tells me "saved changes" but it doesn't.

After reloading the page the size of the mb is still 9 and 3 for the sa.
      What can I do?

      Website setup:
      Joomla 2.5.9
      Gantry 4.1.7
      Template Modulus 1.6.8

      Thanks for the help
