    • I just installed a new version of graffito on my site, and I'm having this issue too. I know how to use gantry and have well over 20 sites using it successfully, and indeed ever this site was working fine.

here's what i got for the settings:

      Database Version 5.5.34-cll
      Database Collation utf8_general_ci
      PHP Version 5.3.26
      Web Server Apache/2.2.25 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.25 OpenSSL/1.0.0-fips DAV/2 mod_bwlimited/1.4
      WebServer to PHP Interface cgi-fcgi
      Joomla! Version Joomla! 3.2.1 Stable [ Ember ] 18-December-2013 14:30 GMT
Joomla! Platform Version Joomla Platform 13.1.0 Stable [ Curiosity ] 24-Apr-2013 00:00 GMT
      User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0

So looks like everything is up to date...

    • Hi AudioVU

A "me too" post isn't very helpful without a link to the problem and a better description of what is going wrong.

For example are you saying that you have set layout to 3|6|3 and it is still displaying default 4|4|4? Just what makes you say your changes aren't being saved?

    • Ah apologies. I couldn't save ANY combination of positioning. It would say saved, but nothing would change on the frontend. I ended up uninstalling gantry, deleting database tables and restarting. Seems it was just a corrupt install as the issue is now fixed. Thanks, and sorry!

    • I've had same problem.
And I found why it happens.

In my case it was wrong name in "module position" field.
So, I created modules in "feature-a", "feature-b" and "feature-c" and type name of position by keyboard.
But i typed "feature-с" and "с" was in russian, not english. Looks same, but gantry can't find this module position.
And even if I choose "force position" it can't show this module.

So, maybe, it's good idea to show all found by gantry position names after position count switch?
      Something like:

I've posted it here because it realy look like gantry can't save layout. I created modules in right positions, but it shows me that i have 6|6 layout. I've tryed to change it to 4|4|4. Save. Reload template and it goes back to 6|6. WTF? :) Spent two hours for realizing that position name was wrong.
So, maybe another solition can be like popup window with text "you don't have enought module position, please create it first" after you try to change layout qauntity.

    • Hi there,

Ok - there will always be a potential issue in typing in the position of a module manually. This could be simple typos or language/keyboard combinations. This is why there is a selection option when applying positions. When this is used you remove the possibility of those errors happening.

When you refresh or open the layout tab it will display the set up based on the home page. If your home page only has 2 items published it will display the default of 6|6 unless you have changed it to something else. To see what the layout would be if 3 items are published you need to click on the 3 above the slider. This will show how the page will be displayed when there are 3 items published.

What you are describing is not a problem with Gantry but a lack of understaning on how it works.

      Hope this helps 8)

Yes, i know it now. But, as i described before, it doesn't look like as a possibility. It look like you setup something and it doesn't want to save it. Not everyone read documentation (and me too :) ) and understand that is only possibility. Some type of additional information right in that place, or in time of making changes is good idea.

I really love your framework and your designs and use it a lot of times for my projects. :) And i think it can be better and more logical.

    • Hi there,

Thanks for your comments. The problem is that if we keep adding extra text and longer tooltips then the files will get too big. Unfortunately, like most advanced software options, you cannot replace documentation with on-screen instructions for people who cannot be bothered to read the instructions.

In the past it was hard to find that sort of information on our site. We know this from the results of a member poll we conducted and so a lot of changes were made to our site in the latest release of RTV3. We know have a special documentation area which includes instructions for each template and extension and it is still being added to daily.

So with a complex framework and improved documentation we feel that this is the best it will be for Gantry 4. Who knows what will happen when Gantry 5 is released.

      Hope this helps 8)

    • Hi, I´m having the same issue. But cant find the solution.

      - Template - Epsilon V1.0
      - PHP >5.3
      - Joomla 3.2.3
      - Rockettheme pack install

I go to the admin template backend.
Try to change the footer or any position´s distribution.
      Save.
      Refresh.
And it looks the distribution doesn´t save. The frontend doesnt´ show it neither.

      Modules
      name1 - footer-a
      name2 - footer-b
      name3 - footer-c

      Frontend display 3|3|3

      Settings:
      Actual -> footer(Positions:2 - 6|6)
      Wanted change -> footer(Positions:3 - 3|4|5)

      Link for the site:
      sec107.ide.mx/

I´ve had this problem before I think its a bug. Don´t remember if I could solve it but many forum posts are gone now. So I can´t find solution again. Please help.
