SOLVED Gantry don't save my changes in mainbody layout

    • I just recentrly renewed my membership by the 6th time to get updated joomla 3.x templates... maybe with this many memberships rockettheme should consider life memberships, lol

I also have the issue with gantry not saving changes on mainbody layout. I have tried everything, unistalled Zephyr and installed it standalone with latest gantry, nothing worked.

If there is a good rocketer around i can share my login credentials to find the way to solve this issue,
      Regards

    • Hi there,

I'm having the same problem. The thread is marked as 'solved' but after reading through most of the posts, I could not find the solution.

Can someone from RT please get back to me with the solution?

I am running Joomla 3.6.5, Myriad template with Gantry v4.1.32, which appears to be the latest version.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    • Hi PF,

There is no solution in this thread because there was never a real problem.

In almost every instance it was a case of people not understanding how the admin displayed the layouts. The only post that provided details to a site was simply a case of stored cache. In hindsight they probably had server caching in place too hence the delay for changes to take effect.

Can you use the 'secure' option above post input to provide me with a temporary Super Admin access please and I will take a look to see what the cause may be.

I will also need to know which page is not displaying as you think it should and what settings you actually require.

      Thanks :)

    • Hi Rene,

Looks like you found secure as that is where your post is.

Looking at the page I only see two mainbody elements - mainbody at 9 and sidebar at 3

I could not login to check because the account is either blocked or not confirmed yet.

      Please check login is valid.

      Thanks for your patience 8)

    • David,

It seems that if you have a module assigned to a side bar position that the Main Body position you're trying to set does not accomodate, the module overrides the setting. That is to say, if you have a module assigned to sb .... but you set Main Body to 2 positions which only allow sa, then the Main Body setting cannot be saved.

So it seems I have solve the problem - but I will leave the super user login for you in case you want to look.

Please confirm when you no longer require this login.

      Thanks,

      PF

    • Hi there,

OK - the use of a single module in a sidebar position is usually quite straightforward on most sites. Having said that I have worked on sites where client has required both sa-mb and mb-sb. This has meant that I have had to create a duplicate copy of template and swap the mainbody around because Gantry always sets the default sidebar as sa.

The login still doesn't work for me...

      Warning

Login denied! Your account has either been blocked or you have not activated it yet.

      Cheers

    • Hi comms2013,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to this one. I can now sign in and as I said, there is no issue, simply a misunderstanding of how the system works.

There is a Master template. It has the ability to change settings and layouts. Because Gantry provides this framework acroos your website it has to be able to start with default settings. This means we have designed the template layouts area to show the defaults when opened.

This is the important thing to remember - the default display when you open the layouts is for the Home page of your website.

In your case there is an overide template assigned to 3 pages. The home page has a mainbody position for the article and modules published to sidebar-a and sidebar-3. This means the default will always show the setting for 3 items as that is what your home page has.

When you have a page that only has 2 items published, such as mainbody article and a module in sidebar-a, it will be displayed using the settings for mainbody when the 2 is selected. In your case mb|sa with sizes of 9|3.

To check correctness I reversed that to sa-mb with sizes 3|9 and took a screenshot to show the change - sidebar left and article right.

I then took a screenshot of the controls when opened again and it shows the default for home and when I click on 2 it shows the layout for pages with just mainbody and a sidebar module.

Everything is working as it should. Please see attached images.
