Re: SOLVED Gantry don't save my changes in mainbody layout

Hi crazysniper, theHart,
Are you saying that you make changes in admin layout and they do not appear on your site? Or are you saying that when you go back to admin it shows different settings but the front end is displayed correctly?
If the latter then this is correct behaviour as the default display takes into account the modules published to the Home page.
Hope this helps

Hi David,
Today, the mainbody layout in admin is mb-sa, but in frontend it was mb4-sa4-sb4. I tried to change mb6-sa3-sb3 but always fail. Just now, after trying several time, I can create mb6-sa3-sb3 finally in front end. However, it is still mb-sa in admin. It is really strange.

Hi theHart,
On your home page do you have modules published in sidebars a and b?
Thanks

Hello
Gantry works well and changing mainbody positions works well too ONLY if people understand how Gantry works.
I was, mysself, confused with it but i take time to read:
www.gantry-framework.org/documentation/j...configure/layouts.md
and the "Mainbody layouts" part.
The sentence wich explains all is "the widget understands that there are three sidebar columns published"!
What does it means? It means that you could never goes to:
a 2 columns layout with MB | SA
if you have some modules published is sidebar-b postion because Gantry take car of this...
Try to unpublish modules that published into sidebar-b position then go back to Gantry and... but it works!
Tha'ts said, it not all easy to understand, Gantry should be able to override all, even if some modules are published.
As i was testing Gantry i've found a 'bug': yes...
Le't assume i have an homepage override like Corvus template.
I have two module published in sidebar-b and assigned ONLY to the homepage menu
> but if try to go to the master template and change the mainbody layout it do not works!
nop... why ?! i have'nt any module published into sidebar-b postion for the rest of my website.

Hi there,
The thing to remember is that Gantry sees Mainbody and up to 3 sidebars (a,b & c).
If 2 Gantry sees 2 columns have content, e.g. mainbody and sidebar-a, then it will use whatever layout you have set for 2 positions e.g. MB|SA or SA|MB
The important thing is that although it says Sidebar-A (SA) this will also apply if your module is published to sidebar-b or sidebar-c instead of sidebar-a
So if you have a 3 column layout set to SA|MB|SB and you are expecting it to display as MB|SB then this will not happen. You would need to create a copy from within the template admin and then set that for 2 positions as MB|SA and assign that template to pages where you want sidebar to be on the right.
Hope this helps
