Brian Shea - it will be "easier" but it's still not straightforward as if you change CMS there would still be fundamental differences that you need to overcome. For example:
1. Different menu systems
2. different post/article systems
3. different locations for some images/files
But, in principle, yes it can be done but it is still a technical process that would require some file manipulations. I believe someone actually started a github project to allow conversion from joomla to WP in Gantry 5 - but I think the project has since be abandoned and was never completed.
