Any news on Joomla 1.6 templates?

Well Said Webtread...and I thought my post was long!
I use mainly RT Mods, but have a few Key Components (Reservations Stuff) that I can't live without, so I'm hedging my bets that RT will be 1.6 capable before they are. But that's just a guess based on size of the company and past performance. (No empirical evidence)

Just another quick note...
All I can say is that you guys have some really well educated clients! I know mine could give a crap if they're using Joomla 1.01 (I'd never do that), 1.5, 1.6, Wordpress or Drupal....
All my clients want is a website that works, gets them on Page One of Google for a key phrase, that they can change a word here, send out their newsletter and a few other non Joomla core things.
I'd drop my prices if my clients were that tech savvy to understand the differences between 1.5 and 1.6 and be able to justify an immediate switch!

I couldn't agree more. I thought of that when I read people whining that their clients want J! 1.6 and it's still in RC mode. If they follow Joomla that closely, I am surprised they need you at all.
Also, some of you who are being VERY vocal should pipe down or pony up for more entitlements, if you haven't already...you know who you are...coming to the Joomla game late, being a member for barely a year...and having at least a dozen sites using RT templates. "Just saying..."

Hey Terp, nice to see you here and there...
As Andy stated, even when J1.6 templates and extensions are ready, you have to consider, have all the other developers of 3rd party components you may be using done the same?
This time around, seems there will be no 'legacy' or 'compatibility' mode.
So if you are running an exclusively RT template with only RT extensions, when J1.6 templates are offered, you may be able to get away with it, but if you have several extensions that work on J1.5 but not yet on J1.6, it's better waitin' than breakin'.

:arrowu: Couldn't agree more... I have never had any one ask me to build the a 'Joomla' web site.
But when they ask for a site to be built (or converted to something besides their static HTML sites) Joomla is what I suggest.
As you mentioed, most customer are really ignorant to what platform you will use to create their site.
(No fault of their own, and the reason we exist)
All they care about is getting their content to display properly.
I think those pushing for a switch to J1.6 are devs seeking to 'make their job easier' as opposed to 'satisfying customer's requests'. - Thanks,

- Which extension(s) do work with 1.5 AND RT Themes which provide enhanced ACL possibilities? For me it's the key factor waiting so eager to use 1.6
