Ninjaboard replacing phpBB3

    • Looking forward to 1.2! Hopefully we will see it soon. I'm going to start development on the website I talked about earlier under jtoppin.

My main question is this: Will it be easy AND safe to upgrade Ninjaboard via the backend while the site is live?

      Awesome work so far!

    • Glad you're looking forward to it!

As long as Ninjaboard is the only Nooku based extension on your site, and you don't use template layout overrides on Ninjaboard, upgrading to 1.2 is guaranteed safe and easy while the site is live.

Our upgrade and maintenance scripts are designed to run live, and fast ;)

      Glad to hear it.

I'm not sure the best place to ask some of this stuff, as I asked on the Ninjaboard support forum as well.

However, this is what I need/want to know.

      1. Would it be hard to implement Rokbox into the board itself? Auto-resize, etc?

      2. Is the ability to sticky/announce threads coming soon?

      3. Are the profiles chamel'd Joomla profiles or straight Ninjaboard profiles? The reason I ask is I'm making this for a computer gaming guild that wants some profile fields that describe people in game, which I wouldn't have trouble building into Joomla, but does Ninjaboard just access those profiles and show the information? Hopefully I'm clear enough with that question.

      4. Last is this: If you go to this page: www.securitywizardry.com/index.php/forums/andy-cuff.html or any other ninjaboard forum for that matter, in Firefox or Chrome, when you roll over the thread, the lines around the views and posts are not aligned. Is there a way to fix this? I've noticed these problems on the demo boards across all themes as well, regardless of what is being themed.

Other than those questions, I love the ease of using this forum solution. Glad to see it is a project moving forward!

    • If RT just made templates for Kunena none of this would be an issue.

Yeah, RT should fix all 3rd party components problems and resolve every issue with them... :D

lol. Personally, I think Ninja board is way too much. There is just something about it I don't like. Kunena is more than capable but templates are not that great. RT should make some :-)

I'm a former vbulletin user since it's version 1 (over 10 years). Due to a variety of issues, we've been forced to look for an alternative forum system. XF is by far, the most modern, advanced yet simple forum system on the market today, and it's only getting better. It's developed by the same guys who started vb (back in the day).
      Just a clarification note:

vBulletin was started by James E. Limm and John Percival in Feb. 2000. Mike Sullivan (along with Freddie Bingham) was brought on to help finish vBulletin 2. Kier Darby was brought on during the vBulletin 2.0 Beta phase to further development.
In 2009, both Kier and Mike left the company and began developing Xenforo.

    • Xenfro has no clear Joomla 1.7 development or help information so I would not consider buying. It looks amazing but if they can't integrate it and give instructions I would not consider buying.

there is no documentations of it.
