    • 2 23" might be a good option thomas. I have 1 30" and I feel like it's not quite enough, so i'm probably going to have to pony up for another 30". 2 X 23" probably would of been good enough.

    • I use both myself Mac/WIN/ I prefer the mac since I started on one about 15 years ago.

This is my favorite place to keep with applications for the mac.

Mac applications are alot more fun and much more creative. Just about anytime I need an application that does some odd task, I can find it for the mac. There are plenty to find and there are numerous developers creating new tings for MAC's everyday.

      www.versiontracker.com/macosx/

I was also emulating windows 8 years ago on OS 8.5. There are reasons that one may need to emulate windows from time to time.
      I don't drive a kit car either ;D

    • I never thought I'd outgrow this big-ass Apple Cinema Monitor, but I won't buy anything smaller than 30" next time and may just get a seconf screen like this to tide me over.

In the meantime, I thought I'd mention virtual desktops. Couldn't live without them when I was still day-to-day on a Linux box, and my Mac seemed very vertical until I found You Control Desktops:

      www.yousoftware.com/desktops/desktops.php

Slick and speedy virtual windowing for OS X. Not quite as good as multiple monitors, but at $29.95, it's cheap real estate.

Virtual windows will become standard on OS X with Leopard, but this is a pretty good solution.

    • I'm going to... second the motion to pickup the 30" screen. When I purchased my 23" screen it was huge - the biggest they sold, and I paid for it too - $2,000 - what you'd pay now for the 30" screen. But I'll tell you what; it can't be beat. Now, I am seriously contemplating keeping the 23" screen and picking up a 30" screen (or two if finances permit) for a Mac Pro or something (drool :D ).

As a photographer myself, I've found the benefits of the larger screens worth it. With the 23" right now I'm always fairly cramped.

Once you go big you really can't go back - when it comes time for graphics design, photography, and everything else under the sun the benefits cannot be denied. Of course, people think I'm absolutely nuts when they see the size of my screen now and I drop the bombshell that its a bit too small.

Of course; there are huge benefits to having two monitors as well that I have to mention. With two monitors you've got a place to store your Photoshop palletes etc. - nice and out of the way. Its really a pain in the but to choose but in the end, well worth it. With the 30" you've got more real estate so when dealing with photographs and Indesign documents its really nice, but when you're coding something and hitting the Expose corner every five seconds, it gets old. That's where dual 23" screens could help you out immensely - just sprawl it all out horizontally :D .
