Gantry 5 just celebrated its first birthday, and there are more reasons than ever to use Gantry 5 for your next website.

Over the past year, Gantry 5 has been downloaded over 600,000 times by WordPress and Joomla users eager to take advantage of a next-generation framework's exceptional featureset.

In fact, Gantry 5 even won the JOSCAR for "Best Framework System” at J and Beyond 2016, an annual international Joomla conference attended by Joomla developers and enthusiasts from around the world.

The framework itself benefitted greatly from its large and growing community of developers and users lending their insight to the Gantry development team on GitHub, through chat in Gitter, and even on RocketTheme’s forums.

During the past year, Gantry 5 has been added to and refined with extensive feature additions including a brand new inheritance system that significantly reduces the amount of time developers spend configuring their sites.

We have also recently released a brand new free theme for Gantry 5 available on both WordPress and Joomla called Helium. This theme offers premium features and a gorgeous design that enables you to experience Gantry 5 and find out why so many people have adopted it as their new theming framework of choice.

Additionally, you can find a ton of great Gantry 5-powered themes from RocketTheme, complete with unique particles and design features you won’t find anywhere else.

So, what’s next for Gantry 5? Grav. In the coming months, our team will be working on bringing Grav support to the framework, paving the way for RocketTheme's designs to be made available on another excellent platform.

Grav is an open source flat-file CMS built by the same team that created the Gantry framework. The two share a lot in common, including human-readable YAML configuration and Twig theming. Their administrative backends are also very similar in style, which enables you to easily create a seamless experience between the two.

Grav is also wicked fast, having been built from the ground up for speed. It’s also incredibly modular, enabling you to make it as simple or as feature-rich as you need it to be.

Whether you’re a first-time Gantry user, or an avid user of Gantry 4 that has been waiting for the perfect time to dive in to the new framework, there has never been a better time to get started with Gantry 5 than now.
