    • Kudos for thinking of your 'poor little wife' while you are going through this.

Thanks for the nice words and your concerns.
I tell you, My wife has been a TRUE HERO through all of this. When we got married and the Rev.asked "In sickness and in Health???" She really didn't know what she was getting herself into!!!!

We've been married over 20 years now and I am so Blessed to have her!!

My Mom and Dad drove up today from Louisiana to visit today. My Mom is a RN (ICU Nurse) and she worries a lot.
She was my care-taker during my last transplant... which means she had to take-off work to be with me. Having a full-time caretaker is a requirement for the program and it's a big sacrifice for her to miss so much work! She is gonna be my "care-taker" again if I have to have the other transplant!

    • My mom and Dad left for home today. I am so blessed to have good parents.
I have an appointment for Thursday morning to start my treatments. I am not looking forward to having that yucky-chemo feeling again! It's hard to explain the way it makes you feel... but it is the worst feeling I have ever felt. One can really feel themselves drifting away, getting weaker and weaker with each treatment. I am NOT looking forward to THAT again.... but it's Inevitable!

      Thanks for the well-wishes.

    • Chemo sounds like a real challenge, but you have a great family waiting for you, when you are through. Keep your eyes on the prize.

I had my doctor's appointment today. He confirmed that the DNA marker was POSITIVE for MDS. With that said, they have already started the "Work-Up" for the Allogeneic Transplant in Nashville (Vanderbilt University Med Center). The treatments I am having now are gonna be making me sick and weak, therefore, He wants me to have it SOONER, rather than LATER! If I wait too long I could get to a point where the transplant won't work and the risk of rejection and death is too high.

The "work up" consists of a series of tests to make sure I could survive the transplant. I have to have a full-body CT scan Wednesday the 11th, to check for tumors and I also need a Pulminary-Functions Test to make sure that my lungs are healthy enough to have the transplant.

I know this is a lot of depressing stuff for me to post here, but it is very therapeutic for me to share.

      Thanks for caring!

Sorry I haven't blogged in a few days, I have been running back-and-forth to appointments almost every day. My last CT scan found Sinusitis (sinus infection) and I have to get that cleared up because I can't get cleared to go until that is gone. So, I'm taking some antibiotics for that and I will have another CT on Friday (19th) to see if it's gone.

The last test will also be on the 19th. It's called a Pulmonary-functions test which is basically a breathing test. Because I had tumors in my lungs, the chemo and radiation were aimed at my lungs. This has left me with a loss of lung-capacity and I had a hard-time passing the test last time, prior to transplant.

Finally, after the 19th's tests, I will just be "waiting for the phone to ring" letting me know when to leave.

      Thanks for reading!
