Today was a very long day! I completed all my testing for the transplant! The good news: I am cleared to be submitted to Nashville for the transplant. If they accept my test results, I will officially be a Vanderbilt University Med Ctr Patient again and thus put on the transplant schedule. The bad news: The MDS is still progressing and I now have to have transfusions every 2-3 weeks until I go for the transplant..... Starting tomorrow morning, in fact, I will receive 2 units of blood on a regular schedule to keep my strength up.
My counts today were VERY low and my resting heart rate was between 130bpm to 148bpm today! If you want to know how this feels... go run a mile as fast as you can. Now, imagine your peak-exercising-heart-rate while you are sitting down. That's what it feels like!

really sorry to hear this. before you leave tomorrow, just be assured that we keep you in our thoughts and will wait for you to come back soon with some good news.
I actually had a good checkup today. All my blood counts were "good-as-gold! Still no word on when I'm going for the Transplant. It can be a while due to my case being "low-priority" (no active cancer) but, I have to have it done before the MDS diagnosis turns into Leukemia. So, I'm just in a "holding-pattern" for now!

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I've been sick.
My blood counts keep dropping, forcing me to continue to need transfusions. I have just about maximized the total number of transfusions that you can safely receive. Every time you receive a transfusion, it negatively affects your Iron-Levels. If your iron-levels get too high, it can cause organ damage. My iron-levels were so high it didn't register on the normal scale so I had to have some Chelation- therapy to filter the excess iron out of my system.
Now, I continue to "wait for the phone to ring" letting me know when to report to Nashville for my 2nd transplant. Waiting-around is like torture! I am NOT gonna get any-better until I have this 2nd transplant. But, there are only 6 beds available in the Center and I have to wait until one opens-up.
Thanks for reading.

Don't under-estimate the power of your subconscious mind. As a hypnotherapist I never cease to be amazed at what people can do. I have a mantra that goes "You achieve what you believe!" - That works either negative or positive, because we've all met someone who can drain the life from a party as well as those who seem to perform incredibly wonderful things with their life.
Keep up those positive thoughts and draw on the strength of that lovely family you have around you, also knowing that your friends here are rooting for you to get back to good health.
Wishing you a speedy recovery
