This may sound like a really stupid question, but I assume I can install the default phpBB forum and then apply the template for it at a later date? I just didn't know whether your templates are a full installation.

Yes, you can change the style at any time.

Sorry, another silly question. Before installing phpBB, do I have to manually create the folder for it to go in? And also create another database, or can I use the same database as Joomla, i.e. same password username and database?

For example install the phpBB3 forum into <Joomla Directory>/phpbb3

You will have to create the directory and you can name it anything. The installation can also use the same database or be separate.

    • I have successfully install the phpBB Forum and it is showing perfectly okay as you can see. However I'm not sure if I have done things correctly. To install the forum, I created a folder called "phpBB" in the main Joomla directory. I then installed the software. Now another folder has appeared called "forum" it contains various files including images, includes, routers etc. I notice that the "Bridge Path" was also call forum. I actually changed the name of the folder from "phpBB" to "forums". Could someone tell me if I have installed everything properly.

    • Kunena is simply FB with a new name and the same code base, right? It's not even J1.5 native?

I am reminded of Shakespeare and his quip about 'a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.' If it walks like a duck and quack likes a duck and takes 200+ sql queries to display a list of topics, it's FB, right? :)

    • I can't understand what's going on. I have installed everything I can find but it still tells me in Rok Bridge status that phpBB3 Forum , phpBB 3 authentication plug-in, and phpBB 3 patch is not installed.

I downloaded Rokbridge.tar and unzipped it. I tried to install phpBB authentication.tar but got this message "Error! Could not find an XML setup file in the package"

    • There is no need to unpack rokbridge. Just install it as a component, meaning, there is no need to unpack it, just install as any other mod/plugin/component.

    • I don't know what I'm going wrong. I am getting as far as step four in the instructions and I can't go any further because it is telling you to install phpBB3 Authentictation Plugin. It is not in the list. I downloaded rokBridge.tar and extracted phpBB3 Authentication
when I tried to install it, it tells me it can't find the XML setup file in the package. If someone can point me in the right direction, I will appreciate it

    • Thanks for the reply. I'm getting rather frustrated with trying to install the plug-ins to get the forum working. Could you tell me how many items I have to install? (not including the forum itself) I had to wipe everything yesterday because they then forgot where I couldn't even get onto the website. I have reinstalled the Joomla website and will attempt to once again. I know I will have problems because I tried installing the forum on another website and ran into exactly the same issue.

If you go to the section where you download the Rokbridge component and plug-ins, I chose the top component and the plug-in at the very bottom (rokbridge.tar) however when I tried to install rokbridge.tar it wouldn't accept it. I then unzipped and their various other ZIP files inside. Again I tried to install the phpbb authentication plug-in but it would not work. I unzip this but there were just folders and a Dreamweaver file inside.

      I'll get back to you

    • Did you try the zipped version of Rokbridge and installing it like a component?

    • I tried everything and believe me. I downloaded RocBridge.tar but obviously that wouldn't upload because you had to unzip it. Then there were more is that files inside, none of them would. It kept saying it couldn't find a certain file, xml, or something like that
