    • I am using Kunena for a simple reason. My community is power by Jomsocial and the only forum I can find were the profiles are intergrated with the froum is Kunena. If PHPBB/vBullet did this, or is possible to do it in the same way. Then I would change.

I use phpBB for two reasons. First is I've always used it and am familiar with it :) Second is the matching templates that RocketTheme make.

I use p8bBB to bridge between Joomla 2.5 and phpBB 3.0 It works very well. User creation is synced between Joomla, JomSocial and phpBB. You can integrate JomSocial profiles into phpBB. Also it adds a Forum menu to JomSocial so users can check for new posts, change settings etc from JomSocial.

    • My previous site that was using it has been taken done :( Long story. I'm currently working on a new one. I had it working in Standalone mode. That meant I was able to use RokNavExporter to use the Joomla menu on the phpBB site. Worked flawlessly. However I have a requirement to use certain Joomla modules and components whilst in the forum. So I am having to switch to Wrapped mode.

p8pBB does not not play nicely with RocketTheme templates when you try to use Wrapped mode. However the p8pBB team are very helpful and are working with me to sort this out. So should be up and running today I hope. I'll post a link and everyone is welcome to create accounts and play around. It is a test site so do whatever you want :)

For most people Standalone mode would be more than acceptable and you can get Jooma, JomSocial and phpBB talking to each other in minutes with p8pBB in Standalone mode.

    • The p8pBB where can you get it from. I did a Google search on it and I couldn't seem to find anything useful.

Could anyone point me to it.

      blogomunity.com/joomla-extensions/commun...la-phpbb-bridge.html

That is the link to the full version. There is also a light version but it only provides the user synching without all the other integration.

    • OK I got the Ximenia theme wrapped with p8pbb. It's a bit of a process but it isn't too bad. Still sorting out one minor issue with the p8pbb team but that is on the backend.

So if anyone wants to go play then the site is at www.mmoghub.com

It is a test site only and therefore subject to weird things happening without warning :) Feel free to create an account and play around. See whether the integration between Joomla, JomSocial and phpBB is what you need. If some integration is missing please let me know and I'll see if it is something that can be done.

If you don't want to go to the hassle of create an account then you can use the guest login:

      Username: guest
      Login: password

Forgive the messiness of the site. As I said it is a test site so it's looking a bit dishevelled right now.

For those who want to wrap a RocketTheme template, instead of using it Standalone, then a few modifications are needed. Both the overall_header.html and overall-footer.html required all references to doctype, html, head and body removed. Also it is best to go through and remove duplicated CSS and JS to streamline everything. This may require moving some CSS into a custom.css file so the styling isn't broken. Also p8pBB modified gantrybrowser.class.php and color.php to prevent certain errors. Overall it takes a good hour or two to fully modify a template for it to work in wrapped mode. The only reason I went to this extreme was to make it easier to provide unified login and registration and to add a chat facility that worked across the entire site.

Anyway go play and have fun LOL

it is located at alterbrains website and works well with joomla 3 and phpbb3 also it integrates with both community builder and jomsocial. Not sure what this blogomunity is bredvig but yes the paid version does in fact have a ton more integration than the lite version...

    • It is almost the same as rokbridge, only it has some more capabilities in terms of jomsocial integration. The SEF functionality is however something to watch, since it may put a heavy burden on the database. It is instead of rokbridge a 'wrapped' forum. You may want to keep that in mind.
