Well said, hoping that before January 2009 all the most important extensions will be native.

CB 1.2RC (J1.5 native)has been released to supporters so maybe one to three months for a stable(FOC to the public)
Seyret - 1 - 3 months
Mosets tree - 1-3 months
Mosets HP - no idea
Sobi2 - no idea
FB - no idea
I am absolutely certain every single one of them will be available for J1.5 by years end. If any aren't, I will consider them dead ends.
Another factor to consider is that J1.6 will be out by then. (August?September?October?) I haven't followed the latest discussions on this matter, but the last I heard from the core team was that Joomla would be backwards compatible by only one version. ie. J1.6 will run 1.5 extensions in legacy mode, but will not run 1.0.x extensions. - Say no to Internet Explorer 6.

It is in beta release now.
I agree with the direction given in the original post. If members signed up who for one reason or another are stuck with 1.0.x sites (like me), then a fair amount of notice is required.
