    • The yellow module with on rt's homepage with grey text in it is hard to read and looks really bad ...

For 1.5.: never look back ... move on!

Edit: Damn I missed my post Nr. 100 ;-)

    • Perhaps a little late to the party, but wanted to throw my two cents in anyhow ...

I am pretty much exclusively working with 1.0 installs, but that will be changing once CB 1.2 is finalized, just wish there was something like jstats that was compatible with 1.5 ... Google Analytics is great, but it is very nice for my clients to have something basic that they can look at inside of Joomla to see stats ... not every customer has a google account or is technical enough to understand something as complex as Analytics.

I am not sure what the "extra features" could be with 1.5 only templates, can someone point me in the right direction? - I have read the "features list" posts, but what does it look like in reality.

As far as Jan 1, 2009, that is fine with me, for any client where we prefer to work with 1.0 there are more than enough templates for 1.0 on RT that we can work with, and generally in the template market there are starting to be some great competitors to Rocket Theme so if I REALLY CAN"T find a suitable template for a 1.0 customer then I am sure I can look elsewhere.

Anyhow, I just want to share that my Professional Membership with RT has been one of the best investments that our company has made and I'll absolutely be renewing at the end of the month.

      Andy,

Are you saying that by developing templates for Joomla 1.0, you are crimping the features you want to develop for Joomla 1.5 templates?

So, my pro membership, which is solely for Joomla 1.5 templates -- because there's no way I'm going to install Joomla 1.0 for my clients -- is not getting full value?

Or, put another way, I am subsidizing Joomla 1.0 template development?

I want full throttle Joomla 1.5 templates, no holding back! Would you consider adding a couple of months to my just renewed pro membership to compensate me for the partial-featured Joomla 1.5 templates I'm getting?

I look to you to be on the forefront of Joomla. You have to lead, not follow!

Of course, you may lose site memberships to the Joomla 1.0 crowd.

It's harder to guage how many memberships you are losing because you lack 1.5 features others see elsewhere.

Consider the existence of this post, that you felt compelled to ask us, as your cue to do what you know you must do.

Consider my irritation of knowing I'm not getting fully featured 1.5 templates as my cue to you that you must develop fully featured 1.5 templates!

Create Joomla 1.5 templates. That's what I want. That's what i expect. I want fully featured Joomla 1.5 templates!

Also, every month you delay is a month of experience lost learning the finer details of Joomla 1.5 templates. Those granular details that you can learn only by doing. You need this learning in order to push Joomla further.

      -Bob

      The above is quite amusing!.

      - When you signed up - did you not know that templates would be available for v1 ??
      - Is it not pure common sense that one will eventually constrain the other??

Based on the above there should obviously be a timescale to migrate fully, but should your emotional blackmail be a consideration?? Errrr I don't think so!!!!

Did you ask Microsoft to stop developing applications compatible with windows XP 1 year after Vista was released?? If you did how serious do you believe your request would be taken??

I only use v1.5 and hence look forward to the acceleration of the development of bridged PHPBB3 themes and obviously the lone 1.5 development advantages discussed.

However, given that the continued success of Rockettheme significantly depends on repeat signups, we have to do the right thing commercially regarding the v1 userbase.

If full migration from v1 is suggested for the beginning of 2009, then that is good for me. If you have to delay full migration until the end of first or second quarter 2009 to allow the extension developer community to catch up, that is also fine by me. If you pull the plug tomorrow I am equally as happy!

      Regards

      Pete

    • I set up a fun-just-for-me 1.5 site just to see what there was to see.
Inside of a week I'd decided to change all my sites over except for one which I can't stand to update anymore because its still 1.0

Today I'm here looking for a new design to update that site too.

      1.5 is superior.
      Do not fear 1.5

    • Totally agree with the direction proposed JOOMLA 1.0 IS DEAD. only one question. Now, there are not diferences btwen the templates in 1.0 or 1.15 in the frontend. Why? Are rockettheme restricted in the construction of templtes because must be the same result in 1.0 an 1.15?
    • bye ,thanks, and sorry for my english

    • Both the 1.0 and 1.5 templates are the same (aside from the syntax and structural changes to make the themes work in either platform). The themes need to be consistent.

With the focus entirely on the 1.5 platform, we can raise the bar as 1.0 is not limiting us.
