      The result and point being...

Drop MS windows, Drop IE and make the switch...
We are living in exponential times and IE hasn't been able to keep up. If we all get dragged behind be the low speeds... we'll never move forward.

      Go fot it Andy.

XP is looking like it will be supported till 2014, so I am guessing microsoft will keep supporting ie6 till then.

My favorite quote was on 'Mashables' where the PR person stated that they made a commitment to Internet Explorer's IE6 customers so they are going to continue supporting it. It's just good company policy. The Mashables' reporter went on to agree that that is a good point and can understand it.

Of course my jaw dropped, because - when was the last time they updated it? 2004!!!!!!! How many security threats does it have? I mean - who are they supporting?? The hackers, virus makers and ad/spyware makers...is that what they mean by committed support. If any of you have ever had to clean off a friends computer for them cause they were using IE6 - you would know what a festering piece of crap it is! I wouldn't doubt if MS gets kick backs from computer manufactures to keep it in - nothing makes you want to go out and buy a new computer than utilizing IE6 on your computer. :P

It's time to kill IE6!!! For good!

    • I wont be able to use any template with non ie6 support on, as a lot of the users on the voluntary organisation sites that i run, work for big companies in the uk whose it department image their workstations and laptops for employees with xp and ie6 and limited accounts so new software cannot be installed on them.

Just let me know who they are - and I will include them in my up & coming motivational site!!!

I am actually testing it out this through out this month on a community site - if all goes well, I will create a separate site so that people can motivate organizations to umm, upgrade.

Basically, I know a large portion of the community business, including banks, use IE6 - so, I am including the "Hope they upgraded - A IE6 Awareness" campaign on the community site that I build for the town.

If your a bank - Nothin' says "Oh Sh#t" like having all of you bank customers coming in paranoid & screaming cause you're using outdated software to protect their money and personal info!

A nice truthful article about IE6 along with a list of IE6 users in town and bada bing...let's see if we get some upgrades and awareness going on. :P

So, you can't upgrade to Fire Fox on XP?

Well, I guess it is time for someone to start Administrating! I built a website for a company who had two IT techs in house... this is so evil...but everything I learned and all the excuses I heard in the past I used to my advantage.

When I started working with the company owner on the website and saw that they were using IE6 - I immediately educate them and helped them update "their computer" then let it sink in for a couple of days. One, they saw how much faster their computer was and two, saw how much more useful tools were built into the browser. So, then I slipped - "Wow, imagine how much more productive the workers would be if they had faster computers?" He called in his IT team, and their first response was every excuse in the book of why they can't. Of course, again, (HAHAHAHA) I had already gave him the answers to the excuses. Guess, what - they upgraded no problems. I also, picked up two more websites for the owners other company.

That is why when I hear people give excuses - to me 99.9999999999% of the time it is - "JUST BS!" I worked on maintaining the standards for the "Stealth" when it came out (this insured that it could fly and helped maintain its technological advance). I, also, worked for National Bureau of Standards in the USA - the highest level you can get and one thing I learned - is people are good at BS'ing themselves and others. It doesn't make them bad and it is just human nature, but when I hear excuses that they can't upgrade a browser whose last fix and security update was 2004 and the standard practice of all software and computers is to update fixes and security all the time....I know it is just Crap! Plain and simple...get some balls people and maintain some standards. :P
