    • Is there a good reference out there for people to use to "try" to explain to our clients why IE6 is bad? I've seen some decent stats etc but it would be great if there was a canned response with some details on security issues, key non-complance issues etc...

    • I found many post on this discussion trying to evaluate if using ie6 y right or wrong, but I don’t think any user of this forum actually navigates with ie6.

The fact is that at least in my case I can't tell my clients that their new site will not be opened by ie6 visitors, or they will have a different design. They will simply look for another programmer.

The average stats for my clients in Mexico using ie6 still 15 to 20%.

If rockettheme decided to quit ie6 compatibility work, I still with rocketheme but stuck to the 2009 - themplates for at least one year more I think.

    • Hmmm yah, thats how I see too.
I dont complain here about RT. Its their decision and everytime I spent some hours to clear uo the IE6-mess (with growing respect for RTs extraordinary abilities) I wish I could follow them but probably I can't. A bit sad but so is life sometimes.
I think RTs customership will even grow after the cut 'cause the templates will improve drastically. But some people will have to go other ways ...

Trust me, the older templates are great and have PLENTY of IE6 solutions already here for you to use. Don't be discouraged by missing out on new templates. The newer stuff is more about functionality than design. You can make ANY TEMPLATE look like a NEW TEMPLATE minus some of the features.

There are so many options available that work with IE6. It's just up to your imagination and design skills to make the older templates "NEW" again.

    • Sam,

I agree in some way. But as a last consequence this means I dont need new templates anymore. I can say for myself graphically/designwise I can turn everything into everything I want.
But its the technical background and the innovation that keeps me here (not to mention the nice people here). So as a final consequence I cant renew (but I will finally decide that when the day comes early 2010) ...

So, they are forcing IE users to install a plugin that makes all of our lives easier as designers.

If you need to explain why IE Sucks to users - then show them how they don't support modern web software. :P
