How to properly upload RocketLauncher Templates to your ROOT

Posted 17 years 1 month ago
    • Step 1 - Setup your MySQL Database using your webhosting control panel.

For a tutorial on how this is commonly done, read this tutorial thread: http://www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?t=19845&rb_v=viewtopic

Step 2 - Download and UNZIP the RocketLauncher version of the Template that you wish to upload and use.

Step 3 - Now, open your FTP client and log into your web server.

If you are unfamiliar with setting up an FTP client, read this tutorial thread:
      http://www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?t=19841&rb_v=viewtopic

Step 4 - Point the "local site' side to the folder in which you unzipped the RocketLauncher files.

Step 5 - Now, expand the view by clicking the /joomla_rt_firezie folder as seen below:

This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

Step 6 - When you can see the all the files as seen above (ie. /administrator, /cache, /components, etc), left click the /administrator folder like seen below:

This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

Step 7 - Now scroll down to the bottom, as in the image below:

This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

Step 8 - Next shift+click the last file (ie. robots.txt in most cases) this will select all the files that are between the first file that you clicked and the last.... as seen below.

This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

Step 9 - Now, right-click and select -->upload... as seen below:

This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

This will upload the contents of the RocketLauncher folder to your /root or to the target folder designated by you.

Step 10 - goto your site now and complete the installation of your new RocketLauncher Template.

      I hope this tutorials helps!

    • Hi Robert,
thank you for this mini tutorial on the rocketlauncher.
I also saw the video on instaling the rocketlauncher, but i have still got issues.
I saw the video here http://demo.rockettheme.com/jul07/media/video_tutorial/rt_launcher_full.v1.2.html
Now everthing was ok, until i saw the "Congratulations! Joomla is installed"page, now it asks one to delete the installer folder using ftp client. I opened coffecup (i used it to upload rocketlauncher as well) - and then deleted the installer folder completely, hoping that now if i key in www.emadvert.com (thats the site i am telling you abt) - i shud be able to see the ready site. But could not!!

What could have possibly gone wrong?

Any help wud greatly be appreciated.

      Thanks,

      Emmanuel

    • a 404 error means that there is no file found. Double check that your upload wasn't to a sub-folder. If everything looks right, contact your web-hosting provider and ask them to check if your domain name points to any specific folder or sub-folder (you have to get this corrected if they have it pointing other than the root).

Not much I can check without access to your server. Check and double-check everything on your end and contact me via PM or email if you can't get it resolved.

    • Hi Robert,
I uninstalled everything and reinstalled. The problem was - i had never uploaded the joomla pack myself. So when i installed it i kept clicking NEXT NEXT NEXT, without monitory the Pre installation check screen, most of the points were unwritable - so using the FTP client, i turned it all into writable. and now its just fine. Wow this template rock.

      thanks man!

    • Hi everyone,

I keep getting the following error after uploading rocketlauncher on root and opening www.mysite.com/Joomla :

Warning: main() [function.main]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/path/to/joomla/install/includes/version.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/hsphere/local/home/crvfx:/usr/local/lib/php:/hsphere/shared/apache/libexec:/tmp:/var/tmp) in /hsphere/local/home/crvfx/crvfx.com/Joomla/includes/joomla.php on line 71

Warning: main(/path/to/joomla/install/includes/version.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in /hsphere/local/home/crvfx/crvfx.com/Joomla/includes/joomla.php on line 71

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/path/to/joomla/install/includes/version.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /hsphere/local/home/crvfx/crvfx.com/Joomla/includes/joomla.php on line 71

I have placed the rocketlauncher files on the root, I have placed them within a subfolder (joomla) of the root and nothing works.

      Any suggestions?

    • OK I found the fix in another thread....

      Thanks Robert A Bryant

"I solved this and for anyone else who is getting it, it was due (in my case) to having renamed configuration.php-dst to configuration.php BEFORE doing the install.

Small error ... lots of wasted time. I know better! Undecided"

Im so glad to have solved this... wasted heaps of time too.
