Re: How to properly upload RocketLauncher Templates to your ROOT

Edited: I was working with the wrong downloads and now have it successfully working.
I have been uploading the free templates and working parts of them fine, but wanted to try the Firenze template. The addition would make five templates to choose from.
I downloaded, unzipped, opened Filezilla, pointed toward the directory I need, uploaded. But, when I try to add the template to my list of site templates, the request just spins along for awhile, then stops. I cannot find Firenze in my list of templates. There is not any error message. No mention of timeout. Where could it have gone?

I have uploaded the populus rocketlauncher to a new website into the root directory as per the instructions given.
In step ten it says to go to your site and finish the template install....ok problem..
I watched the video and understand that the video installs into a sub rt folder, but supposidely, when you go to your website, the Rocketlauncher INSTALLER SPLASH page comes up....I have done that a number of times on other installs and no problem.
This time I uploaded the files to the root, but when I go to my domain, the joomla 1.5 install page comes up not the rocketlauncher splash page.
I am afraid if I go ahead with the joomla install, I will not be using the rocketlauncher....
So my question is this, with the populus rocketlauncher.....ftp'ed to the root directory...what is the path to the rocketlauncher splash page to begin the install?
PS: This is a virgin website and no joomla install has been run yet, I am waiting to get an answer on this before moving ahead.
PS PS: if you go to the demo of the populus site here, click on features>Rocketlauncher the page has two lmain links. One to the video tutorial and one to this thread in installing to the root directory. BUT if you look also on this page to the left there are two notes, the top note is called Run the Installer. THIS IS What has me concerned...its says to go to the folder you have uploaded....(in this case it would be the root folder or
www.mydomain.com
) and it says I will see the ROCKETLAUNCHER splash screen....but I don't. I see the Joomla 1.5 install screen. Am I suppose to first install the Joomla 1.5? If so the documentation is missing that....honestly I am just worried I am going to screw this up. Somebody throw me a bone and let me know what the path to the rocketlauncher splash install screen is please.

Ok folks, I decided to run it and see....and the problem is solved. I just went ahead and continued through the install even though it wasn't the rocketlauncher splash page. When I was done the populus theme showed up.
Some one should fix that note on the demo page. It doesn't go to the rocketlauncher splash page, it goes to the joomla install 1.5 splash page. During the install it asks if you want to populate it with sample data, you click yes, and when you are done with the install, you delete the installation folder and go to your homepage and populus should be staring back at you.
Again, this was for a brand new site, with no joomla installed using the populus rocketlauncher ftp'ed up to the root directory.

I'm experiencing the same problem Michael D described with the Populus template: no rocketlauncher splash screen, just the joomla installation screen. If I proceed through the installation, when I get to the "install sample data" checkbox, it says there is no sample data to be installed. If I continue, I end up with a blank default joomla 1.5 site...not the rocketlauncher populus site.

I had the same thing happen using the Dimensions 1.5 Rocket Launcher, in that I ended up with a blank default Joomla 1.5 site. I am really hoping that maybe I didn't complete something with the install sample data option. I have deleted all the files from my ftp, deleted mysql database just to be sure its all brand new, and set up a new one. I am re-uploading the files now, and will try again to get this happening. My fingers are crossed. I think this will work and it was my own mess up. I will report back with the results in case this is helpful to someone else who may experience this same problem.
Jeff, hope you get your problem sorted out soon, and that theres sample data there for me this time around.

I've been trying to use the Rocket Launcher with Firenzie. I have downloaded, unzipped and uploaded each little file. On the ftp client, I have picked through all of the files to make sure the directory listing is successful. I deleted any possible past connection with Joomla in it whch could have been related to failed or successful uploads. I installed new destination folders. The domain should have been isolated by the time I uploaded. the ftp address is
ftp://mysite.com/realme

Wow...that sure took me some time to get uploaded again, (Shouldn't have changed my ISP). All done and yep, it must have been because i had checked the install sample data option, but didn't actually click the "Install button". OPPPS!!
All working now. I just need to do lots of tutorials and play around. Kinda lost a bit so far. Nevertheless, I'm excited! Joomla Rocks and so does Rocket Themes! Thanks Andy and anyone else who has contributed. Where have I been all this time, still caught up with html? Can't wait to really get the hang of it all. Feels a bit like learning a new language but I'm a fast learner.

Okay, , I need some help. My questions are at the lowest entry level. No one else in my sphere knows anything about this; their eyes glaze over when I ask questions.
I am using FileZilla to upload the Firenzie Rocket Launcher. I have gone into the host root, found the domain root and pointed the upload to it. According to my account, I set a destination for each domain. To upload ftp would normally read
ftp://mysite.com/destination. I have cleared that destination. I have made new destinations. I have tried XP and Vista over and over till I've worn blisters on the bandwidth. NOTHING.
I have DSL. The system doesn't stay connected. I have reloaded and overwritten. But can those disconnects result in something beng missed?
When I am uploading, I have read or been told various things. Is it alright to, in my home/computer directory/ to upload the entire file for, say, administrative and so forth, or do I need to open that folder and upload each one of the folders individually. Filezilla is not selecting more than one folder at a time, although I can select multiple files.
When I open the root, the folders are there, but there are question marks on it. I have clicked on folders down 4 layers where I can find them, to get rid of the question mark and Filezilla says "Directory listing successful."
But, when I open the domain, I get a blank with the announcement that it is done. If I add "install1.php" to the string, I'm getting an error message. Tonight it is 404, sometimes it is 403.

Hi, Ok, im pretty new to joomla and web servers, etc, anyway here is my problem.
My server company has Joomla as part of my package software availability and the install is automated, it builds the SQL's and everything! All I have to do is tell it which location on my server and a user name and password, it auto installs and auto configures and notifies me when there is an update to joomla.
I want to use the Populus Style but start out with it EXACTLY as the demo version, all the bells and whistles, etc but as I understand it, I con only do this if i do a fresh install manually??
How do I install all the components and modules and data so i have an exact replica of the demo site but using my existing automated joomla 1.5 install? i.e. just the template, components, modules, etc and demo data??
I have no idea which files to replace with what in which folder!
