It felt so good to "sleep-in" this morning and not have to go in for chemo! I took full advantage of it and rested until about 11am!

The moon is at it's "20-year-perigee" tonight. Perigee is when the moon is closest to the earth in it's elliptical orbit. Scientist call it a "Super-Full-Moon" and I can't wait to check it out! ! I live far-enough in the country that we should have a VERY clear sky with no "light-pollution" from Little Rock.

To some it may seem nerdy but I am fascinated by the stars, moon, and planets!

    • I'm right there with you on the 'sleeping in' and the moon watching. Because of a cold this week, I slept in this morning, too. It was a good, deep sleep.

The moon climbed above my neighbor's roofline at about 8:10 PM. At that point, it was sepia-colored because of pollution near the horizon. A couple of hours later, it was a very clear bluish-white. It isn't as big as I expected it to be, but it is much clearer than normal. I hope to get another look before dawn.

    • The moon was so bright last night it was actually casting shadows. I wish my Father-in-Law's telescope had a camera attachment because those would have been some great pics! The moon was bright and clear even with the naked-eye!

      Was cool to see it!

Sorry that I haven't been keeping-up with my blog posts. My health has been "up-and-down!" I had to go to the hospital again today and receive another blood transfusion. I received 2-units today and am feeling better. I got to talk with my Doctor and discuss my treatment options. We are still trying to get the transplant under-way. It is just taking longer than originally expected (based on priority).
Don't get me wrong, I am NOT in a "big-hurry" to have it done, it is not going to be easy! It's actually quite "risky!" But it the only chance that I have against it turning into AML. And that's a diagnosis I DON'T want!

      Thanks for reading my babble!

    • I know that I haven't posted in a while, but things have changed with me and my health.
After waiting all those months for an approval for the Transplant, I have been told that my Transplant Slot has been given to someone-else and I will have to reapply! This is really a Bummer! Now we are back to treating my symptoms as they occur. This means I am just gonna have to get used to the constant anemia and transfusions.

My Doctor here in Little Rock said he will try a different drug after the current chemo-cycle is complete. It's a form of a drug called Neulasta® . This is designed to force my bone-marrow to produce more white-blood-cells. This will help keep my risk of infection much lower... But for every "positive" benefit there is always a negative side-affect that must be tolerated... This side-affect is severe Bone (Pelvis) Pain!

So, I'm a little depressed and "bummed-out" but I really don't know how I'm supposed to feel. On one hand, I'm relieved because these transplants are SO dangerous! On the other hand, I'm worried about the inevitable. It WILL turn into Acute Myeloid Leukemia! I WILL have to endure Induction Chemotherapy and I WILL have a shortened life. I have to decide whether I want to spend my last days sick from the cancer or sick from the chemo! Either-way it's a losing situation.

      Thanks for reading!

    • Wage,

Do you by chance take any Vitamin D? Vitamin D is THE most important nutrient for the immune system and warding off cancer and other chronic diseases. Vitamin D expresses upon more than 200 different genes, including the ones related to cancer. Studies show optimal levels prevent 77% of all cancers w/ all other factors unchanged. Unless you spend a lot of time outdoors or you supplement you are deficient, which is almost everyone now a days.

The blood test to measure your levels is called 25(OH)D, also called 25-hydroxyvitamin D. For people trying to treat cancer it is recommended your levels be between 70-100 ng/ml which is the upper part of the range.

    • Thanks for the info.
I don't currently take any Vit-D. I take alot of other vitamins like Folic-Acid, Vit B-12, etc. Mostly Vits that have something to do with the Blood.
