    • I use a hosting company in New Zealand - They recently needed to raise 1.5million for a big upgrade/investment in their infrastructure and offerd a small amount of lifetime hosting plans. I brought one cost around $1500US I can host multiple domains, databases, unlimited traffic but was only 2gig of space - I have about 80 clients all squeezed in but I am busting at the seems so I also need to look at another resseller option - as outside of the lifetime hosting deal the plans are far more expenive then the ones I have seen posted here.

Gollum Keep me in the loop if you find something and Ill do the same. Checking out Bluehost now thanks Thomas, looks good. My only concern is hosting NZ sites in the US - Will that effect my speeds any or is this a non issue?

    • Im from Denmark and the only problem I have had is upload speeds with several small files - they take ages (thats distance problem you will face always)...

But I just upload zip files and extract in my file manager or Joomla Explorer - no problem.

    • Dave,

Wildcard domains is a feature that let's you host an unlimited amount of subdomains without actually creating them. A script in your home directory then tells the server how to handle the requests, ie:

if someone enters phil.churchwiz.com, send them to churchwiz.com/phil ... or send them to churchwiz.com/phil.html.

It's the script that does all the work. I was going to use a blog hosting program for a while and it made great use of this feature.

Gollum, HostGator offers branded DNS servers: hostgator.com/resellers.shtml

      thanks

rochen.com are good and you get branded nameservers

i use bluehost also and apart from a little slow sometimes i'm happy. i also have 2 sites on siteground. happy but i'd like a little more for waht you pay (you get that at bluehost).

rochen are good all round though and with the reseller programme you can host as many domians as you want ...

from experience there is only one thing you have to be aware of. the hosts acceptable use policy ... always read it!

    • I opted to go with a VPS solution as I wanted complete control over my server as I also host DNS, e-mail domains and other types of servers on my setup.

I went with ServInt and I am very pleased with the service, performance and uptime. The tech support is TOP notch and very responsive.
      www.servint.net/

"With a VPS, you get your own secure hosting environment, complete with root access, and the ability to install and configure whatever you desire within your environment."

They use CentOS 4 Linux Operating System with free Plesk 8.0 or Cpanel that run on Virtuozzo, IMO the best Virtual server platform for Linux.

If you opt to go with them please comment when you sign up I referred you. :)

    • I have a reseller and a shared server account with hostgator.com They are very responsive, although occasionally more complex questions require a little more time to get to the higher levels of support. It has never been anything that kept me from operating.

They are not the least expensivve, nor the most. I am willing to pay a modest premium for better support.

    • Thanks to a tip from Damo a while back, I use Rochen.com. As a reseller, I've never had an issue. I also have a couple of sites on Web.com. Their service is second to none...they're just too expensive IMHO.

    • I use 2 hosts for my sites.
Im in Australia so my first host is a reseller plan. I pay $21AUD which is around $15.00 USD for that I get unlimited domains 4 gig of spae and about 20gig BW. They use Cpanel and the reseller panel. I have about 40 clients on it, and being a smaller host than some offer excellent live support. I have been with them for a few years now, and considering most clients would be lucky to use 10-20mb and have monthly bandwidths which rarley exceed a few hundred MB it's very nice indeed!. They also have self branded DNS which helps keeps me transparent. Oh they are called www.mdwebhosting.com.au

I also have an account on siteground.com For the price the disk space and bandwidth ROCK. I actually use it for storage and mirroring of allot of client data. Being I can use the bandwidth from this account (900gig a month) and the disk space, and use it on my reseller accounts just makes sense.
