If I end up having trouble and it all goes to sh## then I know who to blame - All of You :P

Darn you! If you would have asked me, I could give you $50 Promo code... :(

    • For what it's worth as most of you know, RT is currently hosted on a dedicated server with server4you.net. Overall i've been pretty happy except some issues with email sending. Anyway due to increased load and general degradation in performance i've got a new beefy server with theplanet.com (which is where rochen.com got there machines previoulsy) and am very pleased so far. I've not moved over RT yet as it will require some downtime as IP's move over and due to the nature of the forum/accounts, I can't afford to have both systems operational at the same time or it will be very confusing.

I've had lots of people (you know who you are) approach me with questions about RT doing hosting, and I'm thinking about it. Just need to find the right people and determine if it's a viable move.

      cheers.

    • I'm using 1&1 and it sucks with a passion.
Will never NEVER ever use 1&1 again.
It is the worst hosting ever like 56% uptime.
No I mean NO customer service at all.
      Anywhere is better.
Trust me the prices might be cheap
but the quality sucks and is not worth the hassle

No. Really. How do you REALLY feel about them?

What a bad day to wander into this topic. I have people getting bouncebacks when they send email. So I called my webhost (who I shall not name, but it rhymes with "iTowerVeb") to get it resolved. "Yes, I see that there is a problem with your email server, but I do not have the resources to fix it. I have submitted your trouble ticket and you should hear back from someone in about 12 hours."

If this had happened last month, no big deal. But we're organizing a tennis tournament and there are people emailing us questions all the time! This is the WRONG time for emails to go down for more than a day. Then again, if it had happened at the end of Feb, I'd -really- be screwed.

Last time I called tech support (at least a 15 minute wait, each time) about a mySQL error I was getting, they were very helpful and said "It looks like you have maxed out the SQL queries in an hour." Awesome. That's the error message that was on my screen. Thanks. :-) </rant>

    • I haven't used Bluehost, but one of my clients does, and he's looking to switch because of down time and speed issues he's encountered. On my end, I am currently using Lunarpages and would give them a B. Their customer service used to be great but has gone way down hill and it takes them ages (sometimes 2-3 days) to respond. Joomla support is uneven.

So I'm actually now looking for two different hosts: one in the US (for my US clients) and one in Germany/Switzerland (for my German and Swiss clients).

Right at this moment, I would especially love recommendations for German web hosts that provide decent Joomla support. I made the mistake of signing up with Lycos Germany (don't ask, I was tired), and although they offer Joomla pre-installed, they prevent you from accessing any and all root-level files. Dumb, plus their customer service is non-existent.

Has anybody used Joomla Add-Ons for hosting? http://www.joomla-addons.org

      Thanks for any thoughts/recommendations!

Well, see there? More proof that Andy responds to the RT membership. We'll see if Andy finds this feasible. Go Andy!!

Well for what it's worth I would sure switch to Rocket Theme Hosting. If the other 13000 plus members are as happy with the themes you create and the community here as I am then I reckon that they all would migrate to RT Hosting.
