    • Good to hear, AdventureBear. I'm sure you'll find the forums, in and of themselves, to be well worth the price of admission. And with all the templates currently available for J1.0, well, ergo....

      Welcome aboard, sir.

    • I *really* hate that we're being forced to use J1.5.

Just tried the most simple thing; upload a (firenzie) template.

Simple, one click process in 1.0.n, not so in 1.5...

I get some weird 'Fatal Error - allowed memory size exhausted..' (no it's not)

James' advice elsewhere on the forums is to unpack and upload the templates via ftp.....well that's a step forward Joomla.

That's not really Joomla's fault. I think you need to allow more memory in php.ini :)
Normally you just click on browse and then install template/plugin.

      I personally think 1.5 is a thousand times better than 1.0 :>

Yup, that's an issue with some of the 'larger' templates.

There were a lot of people having problems with the default memory limit of their hosts being around 8MB when it should be at least around 32MB.

I had the same problem with MediaMogul, upped the memory in the php.ini and it was smooth sailing from that point.

    • Recently downloaded v1.58 of Joomla and attempted to upload and install your most recent 5 templates for version 1.5. Problem is none of your templates are successfully installing. I am not new to Joomla and in the past havent experienced such problems - I assume there must be something wrong with v1.58 of Joomla which no-one else seems to have reported.

I am using my usual ISP and MySQL as the database, but when I attempt to upload one of your .tgz files I wait and wait and wait and all I see is a blank screen - when I reload Joomla - there is no sign of the template. Obviously some unidentified bug in Joomla v1.5.8 which no one has reported yet.

Joomla v1.5.8 itself installed perfectly first time - but I am stuck with the demo templates it ships with

      Any help appreciated

    • I also believe it is a Joomla 1.58 Bug because the same error appears on Yootheme templates. There is also a thread about this in the Yootheme forum..

    • If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will.

Well, I think that applies to anything, including 1.5.

I personally, have found nothing but improvements with 1.5, yes, I have run into problems, but man - 1.0 was the same way when I first started using it.

After a while of working with 1.0 and finding problems, frustrations, bugs and more - I worked my way around them and be came comfortable with 1.0 - forgetting about what a pain it was when I started (which is what most people do). So, here I am on 1.5 having to learn it's limitations and workarounds, but let me tell you - from my personal experience, and remembering what it was like using 1.0, I gladly except 1.5 and look forward to 1.6 and the further development of Joomla with open arms. ;D

As for the template thingy mentioned above...I have every confidence it will be worked out now that it has been identified and isn't that what is great about this project? People work together to work things out. So, my advice to anyone - is if your not part of the solution, your part of the problem - so, start helping out. :P

Okay, there is my 5 cents (I know the saying is suppose to be 2 cents, but the economy is in a slump, so, why shouldn't our saying change to reflect current times, plus - I think the penny should be banned.) ;)
