I have been using
montecarlohosting.net/
and Christian, the owner, is very helpful and knowledgeable. I use their reseller package and have been very happy with the service.

Re: What's your hosting company? Do you like it?

I use Rochen Hosting -
www.rochenhost.com/
- at both shared hosting and reseller level. They are great!!
I use 3 hosts on a regular basis. Below (in no particular order) are the who's and why's.
Go-Daddy - Would rather just use them on static sites but I've got a couple Joomla clients on them. They are the slowest Joomla Hosts I use and I try my hardest to talk existing clients off them when we switch to Joomla.
Hostgator - Good bang for the buck. Reseller program gives me enough space/bandwidth and performance is suffient for most of my sites.
Rochen - Top tier clients go here. The backup vault means I can recover very fast, from anywhere, if need be. Serial Attached SCSI gives me the best performance of any that I've used.
I've also been looking into Midphase because I have heard good reviews but I haven't had a chance to try them yet.
I Use Bluehost.com ! Pretty good so far. Support is Excellent.
But i would want to try Rochenhost and Mediatemple.net shortly

is fabulous. Excellent tech support, either by very fast ticket system or picking up the phone -- DAY or NIGHT. I am so happy with this company.
I go with Host Gator, great support. Phone or Chat, no waiting
@Invision I was hosting through Mediatemple for about 9 months. My site was slow and support isn't too too timely. I was going at a 96% uptime, w/ hostgator, I haven't seen it go down yet. (6 Months)
I use a dedicated server from Inmotion. The speed when accessing from China is zippy, and the tech support is excellent indeed:

Same here. VPS setups on CentOS are fast and reliable.Teresa Murphy wrote:

I use Bluehost and am very happy with them. I've never known them to have down time and the tech support is very good, but the people at night (Central time) are the best. Many of them now can even help you with Joomla, last year they didn't seem to know as much as they do now. I would recommend them.
I have a Jomsocial site currently with 400 members, but we expect this to grow quickly as we are about to re launch. We currently have a host with a VPS and find it slow even running
VPS
CPU 1.13 GHZ
RAM 768 MB
$60 p/m
I see people talking about what host to go with and see that this thread has been going for some time. But what kind of 'specifications' should we look for and budget for a 'small / medium' site. This day and age is the 768MB Ram a bit of a joke these days... Is that realistic for around 350-400 members floating in and out of the site? Or should you start at a 'minimum??'
